Some tips for your visit:
  • It's highly recommended to phone farms ahead of your visit to check fruit availability.
  • Most of the farms are cash only.
  • Take closed shoes (gumboots if it is wet), a hat, sunscreen and water.
  • Once picked, don't leave your berries in the sun; find a shady spot so they'll stay fresh.
  • Go early and avoid the heat and crowds. Some places also get picked out early.
  • Wash your berries before use but only wash what you are about to eat - berries hold water and spoil faster once washed.
  • Store your berries in the refrigerator, but they taste the best when eaten at room temperature.
  • Place your berries in an opened container. This air flow is important to improve the longevity of your fruit
  • To keep cherries fresh (and the trees healthy) you need to pick the cherries with their stalk or stem attached.
  • Dogs are not permitted on farms.
  • Most places do not have toilets.
