The Fraser Block of Lake Eildon National Park is located in Coller Bay in Central Victoria and is home to two dedicated nature walks as well as other walks that include strenuous to easy grades. These include:
  • Candlebark Gully Nature Walk (easy)
  • Perfect Cure Creek Nature Walk (easy). In the late 1800s, it is believed that prominent local miner John Merlo found a 5oz gold nugget in the park area. More on this at stop 5 on the Perfect Cure Creek

  • Estate Spur (hard)

Lake Eildon National Park (Fraser Block) Nature Walks

Nature walks are a perfect way to unwind and take some time out of your busy life. Take your camera and see what you can capture. Kangaroos, wallabies and wombats frequent these areas, as do a wide range of birds.

These walks offer a large variety of flora and fauna for the keen observer or naturalist to enjoy. The scenery and views of the water are especially beautiful during the early morning and late afternoons when long shadows illuminate the surrounding bushland.

  • All walks have undulating walking paths
  • Some walks offer steep hard walks
  • Mostly well developed trails
  • Trail markers generally used

  • Both walks are easily completed in one day

Directions
FROM ALEXANDRA
1. Travel east on the Goulburn Valley Highway towards Eildon for 2 km.
2. Turn left at UT Creek Road.
3. Travel 9 km to Haines Saddle.
4. Descend 3 km to the office.
5. Turn left and travel 1 km to the Candlebark Gully nature walks carpark (on the left) or 1.5 km to the Perfect Cure Creek nature walk carpark (just past the start of the gravel road).
6. Follow the map for other walks.

FROM EILDON
1. Travel north on the Skyline Road for 10 km, until you reach Haines Saddle.
2. Descend 3 km to the office and intersection. 3. Turn left and travel 1 km to the Candlebark Gully nature walk's carpark (on the left, or 1.5 km to the Perfect Cure Creek nature walk carpark (just past the start of the gravel road).
4. Follow the map for other walks.
