List of Public Velodromes and Cycling Tracks in Melbourne and Victoria



There are a number of velodromes and cycling tracks around Melbourne which are open to the public. They are a fun place to have a training ride or a racing battle against friends or family members. These places are also safer than riding on the roads. The velodromes with steep banked turns can be very exciting to ride.

The velodromes are:

Packer Park Velodrome (Carnegie)

Packer Park Velodrome

The lightly banked velodrome is located at Packer Park and is home to Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club. The velodrome is open to the public outside of the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club's activities. The 365m long track has a smooth plexipave surface and a constant 12 degrees of embankment. This track is the most popular track for families and young kids.

Brunswick Velodrome (Brunswick East)

The banked velodrome is located at Roberts Reserve and is home to Brunswick Cycling Club. The 333m track which has an incline around 30 degrees, is open to the public outside of the Brunswick Cycling Club's activities.

Coburg Velodrome (Coburg North)

The velodrome is located at Richards Reserve and is home to Coburg Cycling Club. The velodrome, which is steeply banked, is open to the public outside of the Coburg Cycling Club's activities.

Edithvale Velodrome (Edithvale)

The velodrome is located at the Edithvale Recreation Reserve and is home to Chelsea and Peninsula Cycling Club. The 500m track, which is slightly banked at the ends, is open to the public outside of the Chelsea and Peninsula Cycling Club's activities.

Hawthorn Velodrome (Hawthorn)

The Hawthorn velodrome is located in Patterson Reserve and is used by the public as a training and exercise track. The track is on a flat area.

Burwood East Velodrome

The steeply banked (about 35 degrees) velodrome is located at East Burwood Reserve and is home to Blackburn Cycling Club. The 307m long track is open to the public outside of the Blackburn Cycling Club's activities.

Preston Velodrome (Reservoir)

The velodrome is located at TW Andrews Reserve and is home to Preston Cycling Club. The velodrome is open to the public outside of the Preston Cycling Club's activities.

Geelong West Velodrome (Geelong North)

The velodrome is located at Geelong West oval and is sometimes used by the Geelong Cycling Club. The asphalt track is open to the public outside of the Geelong Cycling Club's activities and has a 15-20 degree bank.

Darebin International Sports Centre Indoor Velodrome (Thornbury)

The 250m indoor timber cycling track at Darebin International Sports Centre (DISC) is available for riding by casual visitors with a Cycling Australia license during some periods of the week for a fee. Casual use of the track is $15 per session and hire of a bike including helmet is $10. The track is 7.1m wide and the incline varies from 13 to 42 degrees.

Casey Fields Criterium Cycling Track (Cranbourne East)

The 2.2km track at Casey Fields can be used by cyclists and Human Powered Vehicles (HPV). It is free for the public to use when it is not in use by the allocated clubs Bicycle Association of South East (BASE) Cycling Association, Casey Cardinia HPV & Cycling Club, booked by schools or for casual hire.

Belmont Criterium Track (Belmont, Geelong)

The 2.2km long track is located on Belmont Common in Geelong. The track is the home base of the Geelong Cycling Club. When the track is not being used for races, it is available to the wider community to use for training and exercise.
