Ray Bastin Reserve Playground, Norfolk Drive, Narre Warren
Brilliant playground with a rocket theme and you don't need to be a budding rocket scientist to enjoy it. The central area includes a large rocket, Space Explorer, on a launching pad with twisty tunnel slide as an emergency escape route. This launch structure, has internal steps and ladders to reach the wave slide at the first level and the big twisting tunnel slide at the highest level. At the base of the rocket there is access also by a climbing wall and rope net ladder. Beside the rocket is a huge control panel - Why go to Kazakhstan when you can launch rockets from the Ray Bastin Reserve?
Next to the rocket control panel is a water play area with a water pump, grooves in the concrete pad and sluice gates leading to a drain. Don’t get the control panel wet or the rocket may end up in Saturn rather than Mars! There is a metal shade sail with seats underneath.
There's a fun area with a metal circular track with three connected cars, huge family sized see-saw, two UFO in-ground trampolines, Saturn springer, star springer, spinning disk and three elevated baskets connected by walkways and ladders.
Across the path is a large sandpit with sand play tables.
On the side is a mound with scrambling ropes, soft steps or rock steps to get up to the top of dual wave slides. This area also has a flying fox with a disk seat, birds nest swing and two standard swings. The area near the car park has shade sails with three tables and BBQs.
Other play areas have a balance/traversing circuit, log and rock stepper circuit and spinning disk under shade sails.
At the back of the playground is a sensory adventure trail which has a range of bushes, trees and plantings plus table and seat seats.
