Phillip Island - Penguins, Mazes, Chocolates, Koalas and playgrounds

Phillip Island - Penguins, Mazes, Chocolates, Koalas and playgrounds

Phillip Island is only 140 km from Melbourne and is ideal for a day trip or a few nights stopover. Melbourne Playgrounds took the Island for a test drive and it came up smelling of roses (wet roses since it was Melbourne's wettest weekend for a long time)

140 km is not a long way, but a playground stop (or two) never goes astray. Here are some of the better playgrounds along the South Gippsland Highway route:
Tooradin Flying School, South Gippsland Hwy, Tooradin (closed now)
Tooradin Foreshore Reserve, Foreshore Rd, Tooradin (Toilets)
Banjo Paterson Park, Paterson Drive, Lynbrook
Cnr Sherwood Rd and Craig Rd, Junction Village

Once on the island we made a bee-line for one of our favourite attractions:
A Maze'N Things

and also reviewed:
Phillip Island Chocolate Factory
Penguin Parade
Koala Conservation Centre
San Remo Pelican Feeding
The Nobbies
Maru Koala and Animal Park

Hey, our site is called Melbourne Playgrounds and we wouldn't do ourselves justice if we didn't review the playgrounds on the island. Here are the best:
Forrest Avenue, Newhaven
Lions Park, Back Beach Rd, San Remo
Richard Grayden Park, Marine Pde, San Remo
Katherine Circuit, Cowes

Two days is not a long time, especially when the heavens kept dumping water on us, and some other attractions which escaped the Melbourne Playgrounds microscope on this trip are:
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit Go Kart Track
Phillip Island Tenpin Bowling and Entertainment Centre
Phillip Island Wildlife Park
Wildlife Coast Cruises
Churchill Island
National Vietnam Veterans Museum
Aussie Golf Ranch
Grumpy's Crazy Golf And Waterslide
Heritage Centre Museum (closed now)
Phillip Island Golf Club
Clock Museum and Gallery (closed now)

There also these attractions on the way to Phillip Island:
Warrook Cattle Farm
Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne
Wildlife Wonderland (closed now)
Caldermeade Farm
