Zanda Park Playground, Alexander Boulevard, Clyde North

This lovely playground celebrates a local resident, the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo.

The Black Cockatoo Play Tower which is perched on a bank offers lots of climbing, sliding, crawling and exploring opportunities. The most exciting method of reaching the tower is to climb up the tail of the cockatoo which is represented by slanting wooden boards with climbing holds and a band of yellow rope nets. Alternatively to get up to the base of the tower take the steps or use the rope to scramble up.

The inside of the tower has multiple levels of rubber mats and nets representing the hollows of a tree. Half way up the tower, a bridge slopes down to a platform where there’s a straight slide. This slide can also be reached by a rope ladder, metal ladder or curved wooden walkway - take your pick!

Climb higher up the main tower to the head of the Black Cockatoo to reach the entrance to a massive curving tunnel slide. At this level there are panoramic views over the playground. For younger kids there is a matching game panel and some hanging disks at the base of the tower.

The central part of the playground has two in-ground trampolines, big balance circuit, wheel-chair-accessible carousel, birds nest swing, percussion pipes, three swings which rotate on a central pole, see-saw, various log balance circuits, table tennis table, stand-on spinner, sandpit with a metal Banksia Cone cubby with ladder and slide and another metal Banksia Cone cubby outside the sandpit.

Facilities include a shelter with two tables, another shelter with two tables, BBQs, water tap, some grassy area, bike repair station and most importantly toilets.
