Woomelang - Cronomby Tanks

Cronomby Tanks is a peaceful water reserve on the outskirts of Woomelang offering free camping, fishing, bushwalking, birdwatching and general recreation. The interconnected tanks are surrounded by Mallee bushland and provide an attractive place for a picnic, short walk or overnight stop.

The tanks have an interesting connection with Woomelang's railway history. When the railway reached the district, large earthen dams or "tanks" were constructed to provide water for steam trains. The tanks have since been cleaned out and linked together to create the recreation area visitors see today.

Walking tracks extend around the water and through the surrounding bushland. Along the way look for iron artworks and examples connected with Woomelang's Mini Silo Art Trail. The reserve is also a good place for birdwatching, while fishing is permitted in the tanks.

Facilities include toilets and a fire pit.

Camping:

Free camping is available at Cronomby Tanks, with sites suitable for caravans, camper trailers and campervans. The camping area is unpowered. Campers should obey all signs and current fire restrictions. The on-site fire pit must not be used when fire restrictions prohibit its use.
