Warrnambool Heritage Trail

The Warrnambool Heritage Trail is a self-guided walk through the city centre, tracing Warrnambool's development from an early maritime settlement and port into an important regional commercial and civic centre.

The easy three-kilometre trail passes 22 buildings and places of historic interest. These include former government and civic buildings, churches, hotels, shops, cottages and industrial sites around the central business district, Fairy Street and Swan Reserve.

A printed trail map is available from the Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre at Flagstaff Hill. Collecting the map before starting is recommended because some of the heritage places have limited identification or signage.

The route follows public streets and footpaths. Take care at road crossings and laneway entrances. Some gradients, kerbs and older sections of footpath may present difficulties for visitors using wheelchairs or mobility aids.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are permitted along the public streets and footpaths but must remain on a leash. Individual heritage buildings, shops and attractions may not permit dogs inside. Owners must carry waste bags and remove their dog's droppings.

The outdoor trail can be followed at any time. Maps are available during the Warrnambool Visitor Information Centre's current opening hours.
