Wandiligong - The Diggings Walk

Wander through the remnants of an old goldfield and stop to read its history at the Chinese Bridge memorial.
Beyond Alpine Park, a network of tracks traverse The Diggings, a rich alluvial gold mining area in the 1850's. Situated around Morses and Growlers Creeks, this area includes the site of the main camp of many Chinese miners, whose contributions to the area are commemorated by the recently opened Chinese Bridge. This area, restored and maintained by the Wandiligong Preservation Society, includes tracks, picnic areas and bird hides.
Distance / time: 2 km / 30 min
Grade 2: No bushwalking experience required. Formed, flat track with occasional steps. Signposted.
Start at the Centenary Avenue entrance where you'll find parking and a map. The Diggings is a loop trail that has smaller loops and side trails within it, allowing you to choose where and how far to walk. Make sure to stop at the Chinese Bridge along the way.
