Wahgunyah - Willows Reserve Trail Walk
The Willows Reserve Trail Walk is a leisurely circuit beside ancient River Red Gums and willow trees on the banks of the Murray River. The riverside section continues for approximately 2 km before the trail passes Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve and returns to the starting point.
Near the Mass Tree Car Park is a substantial River Red Gum known as the Mass Tree. It marks the site where Dean Tierney of Beechworth celebrated the first Catholic mass in a tent belonging to Mrs M.M. Burrowes.
Walk Details:
- 4 km circuit
- Approximately 1.5 hours
- Grade 1
- Nature and historic walk
- Mainly sealed trail with a gravel-road section
- Road crossings at Grimmond Lane and the Wahgunyah Football Oval entrance
Route:
- Start at Mass Tree Car Park
- Follow the entrance road away from Wahgunyah and turn left at the walk and cycle sign
- Continue along the sealed riverside trail past seats and interpretive signs
- Turn left at the junction at approximately 2 km
- Pass Wahgunyah Speedway and Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve
- Cross the football oval entrance road and continue towards Blanche Street
- Follow the gravel road north to return to Mass Tree Car Park

Access for Dogs:
The trail is dog friendly. Dogs should be kept on a lead and under effective control.
