Torquay - Rocky Point Lookout

Rocky Point Lookout is one of the Surf Coast's most spectacular coastal viewpoints, reached via the picturesque Spring Creek Boardwalk. Starting from the Surf Beach car park on Surf Beach Drive, the easy walk crosses Spring Creek before joining the Surf Coast Walk, which follows the coastline to the lookout. The journey takes only a few minutes and is as enjoyable as the destination itself, combining peaceful estuary scenery with dramatic ocean views.

Perched on a rocky headland between Torquay Surf Beach and Jan Juc Beach, the lookout offers sweeping panoramas along the Surf Coast. Looking east, visitors can enjoy views across Torquay Surf Beach towards Point Danger, while to the west the coastline unfolds past Jan Juc towards Bells Beach. The elevated position also provides an excellent vantage point for watching surfers tackle the famous breaks below.

The lookout is particularly popular with photographers, walkers and wildlife enthusiasts. Between May and October, Humpback and Southern Right Whales can sometimes be spotted migrating offshore, while pods of dolphins are occasionally seen swimming close to the coastline. Native seabirds are also a common sight, soaring on the updrafts created by the coastal cliffs.
