Warrnambool - Thunder Point Mountain Bike Track

Warrnambool - Thunder Point Mountain Bike Track

A 6km tight and twisty loop of singletrack in the scrub between the Warrnambool Harness Racing Track and the cliffs overlooking the Southern Ocean. The track has two distinctly different sections.

The first area, away from the sea, is a winding section through super-dense tea-tree scrub.

The second area, closer to the sea, is a narrow, relatively more technical trail over light sand, dotted with gnarled tea-tree stumps to hop over. It is mostly open, fast-flowing riding along old walking trails on a limestone base with a number of trail features including drops, stumps to hop over and jumps.

The trail surface is light sand over packed dirt and the trail constantly climbs and descends. The sandy surface means that unlike most Mountain bike tracks Thunder Point is rarely affected by wet weather.

Access - The track is located near at the southern end of MacDonald Street, just a little over a kilometre from the heart of Warrnambool.. It is between the Harness Racing Track and the cliffs to the south. The area is named the Thunder Point Public Purposes Reserve.
