Sherbrooke Falls Loop Walk via Ridge Track (Tecoma)

A lovely 2.7km circuit walk through the forest to the small Sherbrooke Falls along Ridge Track from Belgrave-Ferny Creek Road.

The walk starts from a parking area about 150m north of Anderson Road. There are also more popular walks to the falls on the eastern side from Sherbrooke Picnic Ground or O'Donohue Picnic Ground (along Sherbrooke Lodge Road).

Sherbrooke Falls is best views after rain has fallen.

There are no facilities such as toilets or picnic facilities on this walk.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are not permitted.

Review:

There are multiple tracks to Sherbrooke Falls but this would be the best. A wide track gently rises uphill with tall mountain ash trees and fern trees lining both sides of the track. The gully on the right hand side of the track progressively becomes steeper, deeper and more impressive as you progress towards the Falls.

As the falls become closer you can hear the water flowing over the falls. Steps lead down to a bridge from where there are views of the small falls. For decent flows visit during winter or after significant rain.

On the other side of the bridge, along Hillclimb Track, there is a seat to rest on. After crossing the bridge turn left and head north where tracks from Sherbrooke Picnic Ground and O'Donohue Picnic Ground converge. After crossing Sherbrooke Creek, return along Ridge Track which has a seat beside the track which is in memory of James David Doak who was tragically killed at this spot by a falling tree on 29th May 1999.

There was a nice variety of fungi beside the track during winter and although we didn't see a lyrebird, we did see areas of scratching on the edge of the track.

Beside the track are some interesting information signs which are part of the ngurrak barring Art Trail.
