Rutherglen - Carlyle Bushland Reserve Walking Tracks
Carlyle Bushland Reserve is a peaceful 24 hectare reserve with native trees, shrubs and grasses providing habitat for kangaroos and many species of bushland birds. Visitors can follow the outside perimeter or explore shorter tracks crossing the reserve.
The reserve was established in 1998 by Rutherglen Landcare Group and Rutherglen School as part of a project to reduce dryland salinity. Volunteers, Scouts, Greenfleet and the North East Catchment Management Authority planted approximately 12,000 native trees and shrubs.
Walk Details:
- The perimeter loop is approximately 1.6 km

- Shorter tracks cross the centre of the reserve
- A 700 metre link connects with the Rutherglen-Wahgunyah section of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail
Route:
- Start on the closed section of Kilborn Road beside the fenced reserve
- Follow the dirt road south-west for approximately 700 metres
- Pass through the timber-framed gate
- Follow the fence line around the outside of the reserve
- Use one of the internal tracks for a shorter walk
- Return via the fence line or the main track through the reserve

Access for Dogs:
Official dog-access information is not published. Check signs at the reserve before bringing a dog and protect resident kangaroos and birdlife.
