Ross Creek - Bodens Water Race Walk

Enjoy the mining history and native species you'll encounter on this 5.1km return scenic walk through the Ross Creek State Forest.
This walk takes you along the water race engineered by Thomas Boden in 1870.
The race transported water from various catchment dams to support gold sluicing operations. High-pressure water eroded the soil from the landscape and helped separate out gold.
This forest walk will show you blooming wildflower species in spring. There are also many eucalyptus tree species.
An information board at the start of the walk provides more information on the history of the area.
The walk has occasional steps, flat formed track and is clearly sign posted. No experience required.
How to get there
Head west out of Ross Creek township for 1.5km, then turn left down State Forest Road. After 2.8km turn right onto Wades Lane for 1.3km to Doctors Road where you will see the carpark and trailhead for the walk.
