Port Fairy Botanic Gardens
The Port Fairy Botanic Gardens are a small, historic garden beside the Moyne River. Established in 1859, the original gardens covered a much larger area. The surviving garden occupies the southern part of Gardens Reserve, next to Gardens Caravan Park.
Enter through the cast-iron gates near the footbridge across the Moyne River. Paths wind past an old olive tree, palms, stone pines, Moreton Bay figs and other mature trees and shrubs. There is also a rotunda near the river. The gardens are a pleasant place for a short stroll, with East Beach and the Port Fairy town centre within walking distance.
Things to See:
- The cast-iron entrance gates, installed in 1988 as replicas of gates lost in the 1946 flood
- Mature trees including stone pines, Moreton Bay figs and an old olive tree
- Views along the Moyne River
- The rotunda and nearby log sculptures
How to Get There:
Griffiths Street, near the Moyne River footbridge, Port Fairy. From the town centre, cross the footbridge from Gipps Street to reach the garden gates.
Opening Hours:
The gardens are an outdoor public space which are open at all times.

Free.
Access for Dogs:
Keep dogs on a lead and follow any signs at the gardens.
