Patchewollock - Explore the Mallee Tours

Explore the Mallee is a small eco-tourism business based near Patchewollock, specialising in birdwatching, wildlife and nature experiences in Victoria's Mallee. The property adjoins Wyperfeld National Park and provides a base for exploring Wyperfeld, Murray-Sunset and Hattah-Kulkyne National Parks.
A highlight is a guided tour of the privately protected 168-acre Patchewollock Conservation Reserve. Tours explore a variety of Mallee habitats including sand dunes, grassy plains, native woodland and areas of wildflowers and shrubs. The reserve supports an impressive range of birds, insects, reptiles and mammals, including threatened Malleefowl. Tours can be tailored to visitors' interests and mobility.
Explore the Mallee also offers private birdwatching tours in national parks and reserves throughout the region. Tours can be tailored to particular target species or simply provide an introduction to Mallee wildlife. Transport is provided in a comfortable 4WD, with binoculars and field guides available for guests and tea and coffee provided. Destinations include Wyperfeld National Park, Hattah-Kulkyne National Park and Murray-Sunset National Park.
Two bird hides are located beside permanent water points on the private conservation reserve. The hides are designed for birdwatching and photography, with carefully positioned perches around the water. Visitors using the hides are also able to explore the conservation reserve.
Photography workshops are available for beginners and more experienced photographers. Workshops can cover camera settings, lenses and equipment, composition, lighting, field craft and wildlife photography, with optional Lightroom tuition. Workshops are customised to participants' experience and interests and normally have a maximum of four participants.
Self-contained accommodation is also available at The Roost, set amongst Mallee bushland approximately 500 metres from Wyperfeld National Park.
