Nowa Nowa - Wetlands Walk

The 1.3km Wetlands Walk is a peaceful lakeside stroll through the beautiful wetlands fringing the Nowa Nowa Arm of Lake Tyers. This easy walk meanders through paperbark forest, reeds and native vegetation, offering tranquil water views and excellent opportunities to spot birdlife including black swans, pelicans, cormorants and the majestic white-bellied sea eagle. The first section of the trail is suitable for visitors of all abilities, making it one of the most accessible walks in the Nowa Nowa trail network.

Rich in natural and cultural heritage, the wetlands were an important source of food and materials for the Krauatungalung People of the Gunaikurnai Nation. Along the walk you'll find manna gums, paperbarks, reeds and native plants that were traditionally used for food, medicine, tools and shelter. The peaceful setting and abundant wildlife make this one of the highlights of a visit to Nowa Nowa.

The Wetlands Walk forms part of the interconnected Nowa Nowa Walk network and can easily be combined with the Sculpture Walk, Between the Bridges Walk or Boggy Creek Gorge Walk for a longer outing.
