Newham - Hanging Rock Winery

Hanging Rock Winery is a family-owned winery in the Macedon Ranges, approximately 75 km northwest of Melbourne, offering magnificent views of Hanging Rock, Mount Macedon and the surrounding countryside.
Established in 1983 by John and Ann Ellis, the winery is renowned for its cool-climate wines, particularly its sparkling wines, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling.
One of its most appealing attractions for families is Art in the Vines, an annual outdoor sculpture exhibition that transforms the winery grounds into a spectacular open-air gallery.
Art in the Vines Sculpture Exhibition:
Since 2018, Hanging Rock Winery has hosted outdoor sculpture exhibitions featuring works by established and emerging artists.
The sculptures are displayed across approximately three acres of lawns surrounding the cellar door, with the striking backdrop of Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon.
Visitors can wander through the exhibition at their own pace, discovering contemporary artworks positioned throughout the landscape.
Each exhibition features a different collection of sculptures, making it an attraction that can be enjoyed on return visits.
2026-2027 Exhibition - Art in Motion 2:
The current exhibition runs from 17 October 2026 to 30 April 2027 and features more than 20 contemporary sculptures.
The exhibition focuses on kinetic sculpture, with artworks designed to move or respond to wind and changing environmental conditions.
A highlight is the work of renowned kinetic sculptor Rudi Jass, alongside sculptures by Darren Gilbert, Issa Ouattara and other artists from Victoria and interstate.
The moving sculptures create an engaging experience for children, who can watch how the artworks interact with the surrounding environment.
