Naringal East - Ralph Illidge Sanctuary



A special place to get up close with some of our quirkiest and quaintest native creatures, including the long-nosed Potoroo, the Powerful Owl, the Rufous Bristlebird and the White Goshawk. Everything abounds in this 40-acre volunteer-managed sanctuary: walking tracks criss-cross the bushland, native flora thrives and rare wildlife finds refuge. Pack a picnic and immerse yourself in stunning natural surrounds.

Ralph Illidge Sanctuary Reserve as a 92-hectare reserve containing herb-rich foothill forest, riparian forest and important habitat for threatened native wildlife. Walking tracks, bridges and boardwalks provide opportunities to explore the forest while remaining on marked trails.

Opening Hours:


The sanctuary is closed on days of Total Fire Ban and days of Extreme or Catastrophic fire danger. Check the official Trust for Nature page before travelling.

Cost:


A gold coin donation is requested. Check the official visitor information for current admission details.

Access for Dogs:


Pets are not permitted. Trust for Nature asks visitors to leave pets at home.

The sanctuary is located off the Warrnambool–Cobden Road, approximately 25 minutes east of Warrnambool.
