Mt Helen - Ballarat Bird World

Ballarat Bird World is a family attraction in Mount Helen with bird aviaries, animal encounters, dinosaurs, mini golf, a puzzle maze and landscaped gardens.
Visitors can walk along a raised pathway through the gardens and view a variety of native and exotic birds. Birds include Major Mitchell’s cockatoos, red-tailed black cockatoos, parrots and colourful lorikeets. Some of the birds are comfortable around visitors and may talk, laugh or interact with people as they move through the aviaries.
The walk-through aviary provides opportunities to see birds at close range. Optional close encounters may also be available, including experiences with black cockatoos. Photography is encouraged, although flash should not be used near the birds.
Other attractions include a full-sized animatronic Triceratops, baby Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaurs, a fossil-dig activity and a timber puzzle maze. Children can search for three hidden stamps inside the maze and return their completed ticket to the kiosk to receive a small prize.
The nine-hole outdoor adventure mini golf course has bumps, sand traps, water hazards, pipes and other obstacles. Mini golf, the maze and dinosaurs are included with general admission.
Fish food is available to feed the rainbow trout and ducks in the lake. There are outdoor picnic areas, landscaped gardens and a waterfall.
The Rosella Café serves tea, coffee, cold drinks, milkshakes, frappes, cakes, slices and hot food including chips and nuggets. The Crested Creamery sells ice creams, and there is also a gift shop with bird-themed souvenirs.
