Mount Major - Mount Major Mountain Bike Park



The park has a mixture of cross-country and downhill trails in an open landscape with few trees.

There are no toilet facilities or drinking water available at the site. The trails are maintained by Goulburn Valley MTB Club.

The recorded trails in the park as per Trailfork are Melon Downhill (1.33 km, rated black) and Nationals Downhill (0.92 km, rated double black).

"Cycle in Greater Shepparton" records the following trails:

East and Skyline tracks 1.29 km. Out of the star gate descend over and through rocky terrain across "The Shelf" out in to the open and over some gnarly rocky outcrops across the sometimes off camber but fast trail through the trees to the finish. (black very difficult)

Melon track 1.5 km Traverse across the top of the hill before taking care through the gully crossing then into wide open flowing corners to the finish. (green easy)

Cross Country 10 km. This single track cross country course brings together magnificent views and the technical trail features of a mountain bike track. Technical trail features include rock gardens, log crossing as well as up hill and down hill stretches. (green easy)

Access for Dogs:


Under no circumstances are dogs allowed on Mt Major.

Access:


The MTB Park is located on land managed by Dookie Agricultural College and the mountain is used by communication companies for broadcasting. Access is off Mt Major TV road. The land is fenced with a locked gate at TV Access Rd. Access for pedestrians and cyclists is permitted but you will need to lift your bike over the fence.

Hazards: Be aware of other users as well as roaming stock that may be grazing on Mt Major, snakes in summer and magpies during breeding season. Be cautious of road crossings of TV Access Road, this road is used by vehicles to access the communication equipment located at the top of Mt Major. There may be limited access when works are being undertaken so please no interference with natural or built environment.

No camping or fires are permitted. All rubbish must be taken away also.
