Marysville - Gilberts Gully Nature Trail Walk

Tucked away in the Wilks Creek Valley below Mt Gordon, this gentle 2.2km circuit walk is easily accessible from the centre of Marysville. The walk passes through a dry mixed species forest before crossing a wetland on boardwalks and steel bridges.
Wilks Creek was named after the engineer Clement Wilks, who in the 1860s and 70s, designed a number of the bridges and culverts along the historic Yarra Track which provided access to the Woods Point Goldfields.
There is no official carpark, but parking is available on the side of the street at the track-head on Barton Avenue.
Follow Gilberts Gully Trail for 300m to a junction. The circuit can be followed in either direction from this point. Gilberts Gully is renowned for the lyrebird with its striking call and telltale scratchings in the dirt. The trail is represented by the lyrebird emblem and these markers will guide you along the way.
