Mallacoota Wilderness Houseboats

Mallacoota Wilderness Houseboats offers self-drive houseboat holidays on the sheltered waters of Mallacoota Inlet. The houseboats provide a relaxing way for families, couples and groups to explore secluded coves, beaches, picnic areas and jetties that are difficult or impossible to reach by road.

The two houseboats, Inlet Explorer and Inlet Wanderer, can each accommodate up to six people. Sleeping arrangements include a double bed and single bunk in one room, two single bunks in another room and a dining table that converts into an additional bed.

Each houseboat has a fully equipped galley, hooded barbecue, outdoor setting, television and DVD player, radio/CD player, large esky, heaters and fishing-rod holders. Two single kayaks with safety equipment are also included with each boat. Guests need to bring towels, sheets or sleeping bags, food, clothing, fishing equipment, a torch and insect repellent.

Mallacoota Inlet has numerous secluded anchorages and ten public jetties around the waterway. The jetties have picnic tables and either gas or wood-fired barbecues, while eight also have toilets.

A boat licence is not required, but anyone driving a houseboat must be at least 18 years old and hold a current driver licence. The person signing the hire agreement must be at least 21 years old. Boats may only be driven during daylight hours and must be securely moored from dusk until dawn. Pets are not permitted.

Fuel is charged separately and a security bond is required. Mobile-phone reception is generally limited to Telstra and Optus.
