Lubeck - Barrabool Flora and Fauna Reserve

Barrabool Flora and Fauna Reserve is a large area of largely undisturbed Wimmera bushland about 11 km south of Murtoa. The reserve protects an important remnant of native vegetation in a landscape otherwise dominated by farmland.

The reserve has particularly important Aboriginal cultural heritage values. More than 120 Aboriginal scarred trees and significant artefact scatters have been recorded in the area, providing evidence of the long connection of Traditional Owners with this landscape.

Visitors can explore the bushland and waterways along tracks through the reserve. The area includes mature native trees, open woodland and a variety of native plants and wildlife.

Access is best in dry weather because the tracks through the reserve are unsealed and can become unsuitable after rain. Barrabool Road provides access from the eastern side of the reserve.

Please respect the cultural and natural values of the reserve. Do not disturb scarred trees, artefacts, vegetation or other cultural heritage features.
