Lismore - Murnong Indigenous Garden

Murnong Indigenous Garden is a community Indigenous plant garden in Lismore established to promote reconciliation, education and tourism.
The garden focuses particularly on plants associated with the traditional life and culture of First Peoples, including flora used for food, medicine, fibre, tools and other implements.
There is a particular emphasis on plants native to the local district that have been used by Wadawurrung people for thousands of years. Interpretive information helps visitors understand the plants and their traditional uses.
Plants are identified using Aboriginal names where available, common names and botanical names, together with information about uses such as edible seeds, leaves and tubers, medicines and plant fibres used for string, nets, belts, baskets and bindings.
The garden has been developed as an educational and cultural resource where visitors can learn more about Indigenous plants, culture, connection to Country and the natural environment.
