Lakes Entrance - Venture Out
Venture Out is an outdoor adventure business based in Lakes Entrance offering bike, kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP) hire, guided experiences, lessons and self-guided adventure packages around Lakes Entrance, the Gippsland Lakes and wider East Gippsland.
Bike Hire:
Venture Out hires a range of bikes including mountain bikes, electric bikes, cruisers, tandem bikes and children's bikes. Bikes can be used for leisurely rides around the Lakes Entrance waterfront or for longer rides on forest tracks and regional trails.Venture Out also offers supported self-guided rides where you cycle one way and are collected by a shuttle for the return to Lakes Entrance. Routes include Lakes Entrance to Bruthen, Metung, Lake Tyers and Nowa Nowa, with options ranging from relatively easy waterfront riding to longer forest and rail trail adventures.
The Lakes Entrance to Bruthen ride is approximately 36km and uses the Gippsland Lakes Discovery Track before joining the East Gippsland Rail Trail for the final section into Bruthen. The Lakes Entrance to Metung option is approximately 20km and includes waterfront paths, quiet roads and the opportunity to detour to Nyerimilang Heritage Park and Nungurner Jetty.
Kayak Hire:
Single and double kayaks can be hired for self-guided paddling on the Gippsland Lakes. From Lakes Entrance, paddlers can explore Cunningham Arm and continue into North Arm, where longer paddles can extend towards Wyanga Park Winery and Mississippi Creek.During the peak summer period Venture Out moves its kayak and SUP hire operation across the Footbridge, away from the heavier summer boat traffic.
Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Hire:
SUPs are available for short sessions or longer self-guided paddles on Cunningham Arm. SUP hire provides another way to explore the waterways immediately around Lakes Entrance.Guided Experiences:
Kayak the Lake Tour - A gently paced 90-minute guided paddle with information about the local waterways, wildlife and kayaking techniques.SUP Tours & Lessons - Guided paddling across the Gippsland Lakes with instruction in SUP skills. Group Learn to SUP sessions cover balance, paddling technique, safety and board control.
Simply Singletrack Tour - A beginner mountain bike experience covering approximately 5-9km of singletrack with instruction and opportunities to develop riding skills. Recommended for ages 8+.
Scalectric Loop - Guided MTB - An intermediate mountain bike experience covering approximately 10-18km of forest trails, rollers and singletrack. Recommended for ages 12+.
Island Hop Kayak Tour - A 2.5-hour guided kayak trip exploring three islands in the Gippsland Lakes, with wildlife, cliffs and secluded coves along the route.
Activities for Children:
Venture Out runs Kid's Paddle Sessions during selected school holiday periods. Children use kayaks and SUPs while learning paddling skills, completing challenges and playing games on the water.Trail Kidz provides one-hour mountain bike sessions designed to develop riding skills and confidence. Beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions cater for different ages and abilities, with bike hire available by arrangement.
Adventure Packages:
Venture Out also combines cycling and paddling with other East Gippsland experiences.Paddle & Dine is a self-guided kayak trip along North Arm to Wyanga Park Winery. The paddle takes approximately 30-40 minutes each way and the package includes four-hour kayak hire. A pre-arranged one-way shuttle option is also available.
Pedal & Paddle - Lake Views combines approximately one hour of cycling along Lakes Entrance waterfront paths with approximately one hour of kayaking. Children under 12 share a kayak with an adult.
Pedal & Paddle Adventure Challenge combines a self-guided mountain bike ride through the forest with a stop at Wyanga Park Winery and a kayak paddle back to Lakes Entrance via North Arm.
Other packages can combine cycling with dining and Metung Hot Springs, guided paddling with the hot springs, SUP with a sauna and plunge experience, and a helicopter flight followed by a guided SUP paddle.
Metung Hire:
Venture Out also provides kayak and SUP hire at Edgewater Terraces, near the intersection of Metung Road and Nicholas Avenue, Metung VIC 3904. Two-hour and four-hour hire options are available.Opening Hours:
