Lake Mountain (Marysville)

Lake Mountain is a year round Alpine Resort near Melbourne. Only a two hour drive from Melbourne, Lake Mountain is the closest and most accessible mountain to the city.
Lake Mountain is Australia's premier cross-country skiing and snow play resort. Our unique sub alpine environment is so close and so different from Melbourne and offers an adventure playground all year round.
In the green season you can walk, cycle or mountain bike around the extensive trail network. Take in the spectacular lookouts and observe the forests regeneration.
At the visitor area there is an extensive car park, shelter with three tables (2x), four unshaded tables, firepits (wood supplied) with surrounding seats, bike repair station, bins, shaded BBQs and toilets.

Go tobogganing
Slide down a slope on one of the three toboggan runs we have dotted around the village. Renting a toboggan is inexpensive and you can use it the whole day.
Get your kids snowboarding
Burton Riglets is the world's premier junior snowboard education program for children aged 3 - 6 years. Book one-on-one lessons for your kids and set them on their way to becoming master shredders.
Build a snowman at Possum Park
Take a break from the slopes and build a snowman with the family or practice your snowball throwing skills at Possum Park.
Explore over 35km of ski trails
From short, easy loops to more challenging trails, our little mountain has over 35km of some of Australia's best cross-country skiing tracks.
Learn to ski cross-country
Our ski school runs hour-long cross-country lessons for all ages. Make a booking at the ticket booth plus take advantage of our lesson/rental deal that includes equipment and clothing hire.
Ride the 240m dual Flying Fox
Enjoy the view and experience the thrill of the 240m dual Flying Fox alongside your friends and family. Make sure you book early though. The Flying Fox always books out!
Slide down the Tube Run
Slide and spin down our 100m Tube Run. Go it alone or double up with the kids.
Tag someone at Laser Skirmish
Get kitted out in laser tag gear and play a tactical game of Laser Skirmish with your mates.
Go for a snow shoe
Don't feel like skiing? Rent a pair of snow shoes and head out for a stroll on the ski trails or be part of one of our guided tours.
Have something to eat
Escape the cold and cosy up with a hot drink from our on-mountain caf? with a range of delicious snacks on offer, or visit the bistro for a more substantial, hearty meal.
Things to do in Green Season
Go mountain biking
Ride the trails carved into the bush. From beginner's to advanced there is hours of riding on offer. We even have mountain bikes for hire.
Stroll up to the Summit
Wander through the snow gum woodland up to the summit of our little mountain for beautiful views down the valley. This 5km loop is well sign posted, has gentle gradients and on a clear day lets you see all the way back to Melbourne.
Go on a rogaining run
Explore our little mountain with a compass and a map using one of our rogaining kits. Visit the checkpoints, solve the clues and gather all the points either as a team or in a contest with friends.
Head out for a day walk
Out beyond the village, we've got plenty of longer walks for those looking for a bit more adventure. Take the long walk out to Boundary Hut for the views or head to Mt Arnold to see if you can spot a lyrebird.
Take a wildflower walk
Stroll through fields of wildflowers from November to January when Lake Mountain bursts into a sea of native colours.

Winter Opening Hours:
Message from Lake Mountain Ski Patrol - To ensure your safety and avoid being locked in, plan your hike or ski trip so that you return to your vehicle by 3:30 PM.

Access for Dogs:
Cats and dogs are not permitted.
On the way from Marysville you pass Jock Lookout, Nicholl Lookout, Arnold Gap and Snowy Hill (public shelter and toilets).
