Kings Falls Circuit Walk (Main Ridge)

Kings Falls Circuit Walk (Main Ridge)

This walk begins on Waterfall Gully Road, taking in the falls which can be seen flowing all year. The circuit walk which takes in the falls is only about 1km long but you can easily extend the walk. We started our walk from the end of Seamists Drive. You can follow the natural bushland of the Two Bays Track to the formal setting of the Seawinds Gardens (distance is 3.2km). The Two Bays Track continues to Dromana.

There is a varied range of vegetation such as grass trees and plenty of information boards.

The steep slopes of the surrounding bush made this land unsuitable for agriculture, and so it was never cleared. The flora and fauna here therefore remain relatively undisturbed.

Port Phillip Bay was formed when land sank between fault lines. Kings Falls are located on one of these, the Selwyn Fault. As water flowed from the Arthurs Seat ridge to the Bay, it cut through the softer layers of soil and rock to expose hard granite. This granite is now the face of Kings Falls. In dry weather the creek is just a trickle, and after a downpour its flow increases for a short time.
