Swimming and Fishing:

The sandy riverbanks provide opportunities for swimming and fishing in the Ovens River. However, the river is not patrolled, and currents, submerged objects, changing water levels and flooding can create hazards.

Children must be closely supervised around the water, and swimming should be avoided when river levels are high.

The river supports Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Carp and the protected Trout Cod. Any Trout Cod caught must be returned to the water immediately. Fishing regulations and licensing requirements apply.

Camping:

Frosts Reserve has numerous informal bush camping areas along the Ovens River, many with shady grassed areas and sandy riverbanks.

Camping is suited to self-sufficient visitors as there are no developed amenities. Bring your own drinking water and take all rubbish home.

Some of the tracks are accessible by 2WD vehicles in dry weather, but sections may require a 4WD after rain. Tracks can become impassable during wet conditions.
