Kennett River Nature Walk

The Kennett River Nature Walk is a self-guided walk following the southern bank of the Kennett River. Developed and led by the local community, the walk features 14 interpretive signs highlighting the native wildlife commonly seen around Kennett River, together with information about the history of the township. The illustrations on the signs were hand drawn by a local artist.

The signed nature walk is only a few hundred metres long, making it an easy walk for families and visitors of all ages. Those wanting a longer stroll can continue beyond the interpretive trail, with the riverside track extending for approximately 1.5 km.

Kennett River is one of the Great Ocean Road's best places to spot wildlife. Koalas are frequently seen sleeping in the manna gums near the start of the walk, while king parrots, crimson rosellas, kookaburras and other native birds are common visitors. The peaceful river is also home to fish and, with a little luck, a platypus.

The mostly flat track follows the river through attractive bushland and provides plenty of opportunities to stop, enjoy the scenery and learn about the area's natural environment. Visitors are asked not to feed the birds or other wildlife.
