Jan Juc Beach Lookout

Perched on the sandstone cliffs above Jan Juc Beach, the Jan Juc Beach Lookout offers magnificent views of one of the Surf Coast's most picturesque beaches. Easily reached from the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club, this elevated viewpoint overlooks the golden sands, rolling surf and dramatic cliffs stretching towards Bird Rock and Bells Beach. It is one of the best places to appreciate the beauty of the Surf Coast without needing to tackle a long walk.
The lookout is a favourite with photographers, walkers and surfers. From the viewing area you can watch experienced surfers riding the famous reef and beach breaks below while seabirds glide along the coastal updrafts. During winter and spring, migrating Humpback and Southern Right Whales are occasionally seen offshore, while pods of dolphins sometimes cruise close to the coastline. The elevated position also makes it an excellent place to enjoy spectacular sunrises over the Southern Ocean.
A staircase descends from the clifftop to Jan Juc Beach, allowing visitors to continue their adventure on the sand or connect with the Surf Coast Walk. The surrounding cliffs support native coastal vegetation and provide habitat for a variety of birdlife. Although the lookout is easily accessible, visitors should stay behind safety barriers and supervise children near the cliff edge.
