Howe Reserve Dog Off Leash Area (Port Melbourne)

The reserve is 170m x 40m in size and has two bocce courts with three seats at the northern area along Ingles Street and a Remembrance Garden at the southern end near the North Port Light Rail station.

This Remembrance Garden features Golden Wattle (Acacia pycnantha), Lone Pine (Pinus halepensis) and Flanders Elm (Ulmus x hollandica) trees together with commemorative plantings - each significant to places, people and memory. Established on the 100 year anniversary of the Armistice, this garden provides a place to contemplate the impact of war on individuals, families and communities. Of the more than 7,000 men and women who served from the former cities of Port Melbourne, St Kilda and South Melbourne, 914 men lost their lives on active service. Many more came home broken in spirit and body. In this space we can remember the dedication, generosity, sacrifice, support and diverse views of our community - those who served and also the many who contributed on the home front.

At the southern end there is sheltered seat and bin and across the path in Smith Reserve there is a water tap. The Station Street Trading Co along Station Street is handy for a coffee. A path runs down the middle of the reserve.

There are four reserves in a row; Hester Reserve, Smith Reserve, Howe Reserve and Page Reserve which are all dog off leash areas.
