Attwoods' endeavour is to make highly memorable cool climate wines such as pinot noir and chardonnay. Their winery and cellar door is situated in Glenlyon, just 10 minutes by car from Daylesford. The cellar door incorporates a stunning dining room, a terraced deck, and an abundance of leafy gardens and outdoor seating areas overlooking the vines and kitchen garden. Eastern Peake is positioned at 430 metres above sea level, which is relatively high for an Australian vineyard. The cool climate is ideal for producing high quality pinot noir and chardonnay.

Guildford Wines is located roughly halfway between Castlemaine and Daylesford (on the edge of Castlemaine Diggings National Park), and is planted with shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, viognier, and chardonnay grape varieties. The winery's acclaimed restaurant is sited under a covered pergola and overlooks the rows of vines. Mt Franklin Estate blends into the ancient lava flow landscape around Mount Franklin (Lalgambuk), just a few minutes' drive north of Daylesford. Hand-reared vines of dolcetto, pinot grigio and nebbiolo continue a tradition of producing fresh, accessible Italian-style wines - a nod to the Swiss-Italian migrants who brought their craft to this part of the world in the mid-19th century. Vines thrive under clear skies at an elevation of 360 metres above sea level in this far north-western corner of the Macedon Ranges wine region.

Passing Clouds was the name co-founders Graeme Leith and Sue Mackinnon gave to their small family-owned winery in 1974, when they first planted shiraz and cabernet sauvignon grapes. Now under the watch of Cameron Leith, pinot noir and chardonnay also contribute to a formidable stable of wines. Passing Clouds is the closest major cellar door to Daylesford and makes a great half-day trip from town.
