Hazelwood Park Playground, Hazelwood Drive, Aintree
A spectacular nature-inspired playground with many unique and imaginative experiences for kids of all ages.
The playground has been designed with a theme of 'Home' to reflect the location as a central place for families and a habitat for native birds, insects, reptiles, and animals.
The centre-piece of the playground are the huge steel and timber pods which are inspired by the intricate nests of the native Reed Warbler. The pods, which are all different, rise up to a height of seven metres and are surrounded by soaring Billy Button sculptures that reach into the sky. The pods have slides and rope climbing nets.
Other fun and exciting play items include Ninja style elements, musical area, climbing areas, spinners, cubbies, balance circuits and many swings.
Look out for various animal and bird sculptures and hidden doors in logs to find with bugs and fairies inside.
There is a shaded billabong-inspired waterplay area and relaxing areas under trees. The playground is surrounded by a huge wetlands area which is still under construction.
There is a shelter, tables and water tap. There are toilets and a cafe about 100m away at the other end of Hazelwood Drive.
