Hamilton Art Trail
The Hamilton Art Trail is a self-guided walk through the Hamilton CBD featuring colourful murals, sculptures, painted laneways and public installations created by regional and Australian artists.
The trail starts outside the Hamilton Library, Gallery and Cinema complex on Brown Street. It follows Brown Street, Gray Street, McGuigan Lane, Corriedale Lane and Thompson Street before finishing among the sculptures and heritage features of the Hamilton Botanic Gardens.

Hamilton Art Trail Locations:
1. Prometheus Sculpture
The trail begins outside the Hamilton Library, Gallery and Cinema complex. The sculpture of the Greek mythological figure Prometheus was created by Hermann Hohaus and commissioned for Hamilton Gallery in 1961. In Greek mythology, Prometheus created humanity from clay and stole fire from the gods to give to humankind.
2. Grampians Mural
Continue along the footpath to a mural by Gene Stewart depicting the Grampians (Gariwerd). The artwork uses powerful silhouettes contrasted with colourful geometric shapes and was commissioned by Hamilton Gallery.
3. The Battle Against Mental Illness
This comic-style mural by local artist Jesse Shannahan is in the laneway between Hamilton Library and 2 Doors. The artwork highlights mental health and the personal battle experienced by people affected by mental illness.
4. Large Geometric Mural
Cross the road towards Cheap as Chips and follow Gray Street to one of Hamilton's largest murals. Bright geometric shapes in blue, yellow and orange cover the formerly plain brick wall.
5. Wool Capital of the World
The sheep sculptures near the Commonwealth Bank celebrate Hamilton's pastoral history and its reputation as the Wool Capital of the World.
6. McGuigan Lane
Continue west along Gray Street to McGuigan Lane. The transformed laneway contains artworks by Grotti Lotti, Jasmine Mansbridge, Studio Marlo, Jimmi Buscombe, Krid's Art, Madi Whyte and Jesse Shannahan, together with artwork created by local schoolchildren.
Individual artists were allocated different sections of the pavement and laneway to decorate.
7. Corriedale Lane
Enter Corriedale Lane beside the NAB building to see a large collaborative mural created by Jasmine Mansbridge, Jimmi Buscombe and Sheridan Rose.
8. NAB Community Pocket Garden
At the end of Corriedale Lane is the NAB Community Pocket Garden. The garden contains a wall mural created through a collaboration between Jasmine Mansbridge and Roger Edwards.
Other artworks include the Hamilton Farmers, Fred and Louise sculpture by Dean Bowen and a teepee installation by Trevor Flynn.
9. Flooring Xtra Laneway Mural
Continue along Thompson Street to the laneway beside Flooring Xtra. The mural by Jasmine Mansbridge features her distinctive geometric forms and bold colours.
10. Hamilton Botanic Gardens
The trail finishes at the Hamilton Botanic Gardens, where sculptures and historic decorative features are placed throughout the grounds.
