Gippsland Fly Fishing

Gippsland Fly Fishing provides guided fly-fishing experiences on rivers and mountain streams throughout West, Central and East Gippsland, including Baw Baw National Park.

Trips cater for beginners through to experienced anglers and can be customised for individuals, couples, families, groups and corporate outings. The experienced guides provide instruction in fly casting, reading the water, choosing flies and fishing techniques, with opportunities to target wild brown and rainbow trout.

Guided waters may include Christmas Creek, the Thomson River, Tyers River, Latrobe River, Toorongo River and waterways in East Gippsland such as the Mitta Mitta, Big, Cobungra and Bundara rivers. The destination is selected according to fishing conditions, the season and the experience and interests of participants.

Fishing equipment and flies are included in guided trips, together with a fly rod and reel, Orvis waders and fishing boots. Transport to and from the fishing location is also provided. Pick-up from locations around Melbourne may be available for an additional charge.

A current Victorian recreational fishing licence is required unless the participant qualifies for an exemption. Licences are not issued by Gippsland Fly Fishing and should be purchased before the trip.

Opening Hours:

Guided trips are available by advance booking during the Victorian trout fishing season and on other suitable fishing days. Availability depends on river conditions, weather and guide availability.

Suitable for beginners, families, teenagers and adults. Children should be comfortable walking over uneven and potentially slippery river terrain. Enquire about the suitability of a particular trip for younger children.
