Geelong Arts Centre
Geelong Arts Centre is Australia’s largest dedicated regional performing arts complex and presents a year-round program of theatre, music, comedy, dance, workshops, community productions and family entertainment.
The striking complex links the historic Ryrie Street building with the contemporary Little Malop Street redevelopment. Its colourful interiors, public foyers and commissioned First Nations artworks reflect the land, water and sky of Wadawurrung Country.
Performance venues include:
- The Play House, a traditional 764-seat proscenium theatre
- The Story House, a flexible 550-seat theatre that can accommodate up to 850 people in standing gig mode
- The Open House, an intimate and adaptable 250-person venue used for live music, comedy, cabaret, workshops and community events
- Costa Hall, a 1,421-seat concert venue at Deakin University’s Waterfront Campus
- Rehearsal studios, creative workspaces, exhibition foyers and meeting and event spaces

History:
Geelong Performing Arts Centre officially opened on 27 April 1981. The organisation adopted the name Geelong Arts Centre in August 2019, reflecting its expansion beyond traditional performing arts.
A $38.5 million redevelopment of the Ryrie Street building was completed in 2019. The $140 million Little Malop Street redevelopment opened on 19 August 2023, adding The Story House, The Open House, new public foyers, dining facilities and improved accessibility.

Access for Dogs:
Only assistance animals are permitted inside the performance venues.
