Everton - Pioneer Bridges (Ovens River)
Pioneer Bridges is a picturesque riverside reserve and free campground on the banks of the Ovens River, near Everton in north-east Victoria. It is approximately three hours' drive from Melbourne and 20 minutes from Wangaratta.
The reserve features large sandy river beaches, shady trees and a peaceful natural setting, making it a popular destination for swimming, fishing, kayaking, picnics and camping.
The gently sloping sandy riverbanks provide access to the Ovens River, while large deciduous trees offer plenty of shade during the warmer months.

Swimming:
The sandy banks make Pioneer Bridges a popular place for swimming and cooling off during summer. However, this is a natural river environment without lifeguard supervision.
Water levels, currents and submerged hazards can change, particularly after heavy rainfall. Children must be closely supervised, and swimming should be avoided during high river flows or flooding.
Camping:
Free camping is available in the shady riverside reserve, with space for tents, camper trailers and small caravans.
No advance booking is required. The campground can become very busy during summer, school holidays and long weekends, so arriving early is recommended.
Campers should check current fire restrictions and any temporary closures before visiting.
How to Get There:
Pioneer Bridges is approximately 2 km south of Everton, beside the bridge crossing the Ovens River on Markwood-Everton Road. The campground is accessible directly from the sealed road.

Open 24 hours, subject to weather and river conditions.

Free entry, swimming, picnicking and camping.
Access for Dogs:
Dogs are permitted. Keep dogs under effective control and follow any regulations displayed at the reserve.
