Elliminyt Wetlands

Elliminyt Wetlands is a seven-hectare constructed wetland and community park which officially opened in July 2026. The project transformed a former stormwater basin into an attractive open space with walking paths, boardwalks, viewing areas, picnic facilities and a playground.

The wetlands capture and treat stormwater using a sediment pond, natural wetland areas, vegetated swales, an outlet pond and a detention pond. These features help protect downstream land from flooding, filter water before it reaches Deans Creek and Lake Colac and create habitat for local wildlife.

An accessible path extends around the wetlands and is suitable for walking, jogging, bicycles, prams and wheelchairs. The route includes approximately 160 metres of boardwalk and several platforms overlooking the water and wetland vegetation.

Facilities include:
  • Accessible walking and cycling paths
  • Approximately 160 metres of boardwalk
  • Wetland viewing platforms
  • Playground
  • Nature-based play areas and dry creek beds
  • Picnic areas and seating
  • Open grassed areas
  • Native wetland and open-space plantings
  • Small on-site car park
There are no public toilets, barbecues or lighting at the wetlands. The nearest public toilets are at Elliminyt Recreation Reserve on Main Street.
