Coppins Track Walk (Sorrento)

Coppins Track, 4km one-way, is one of the Mornington Peninsula's most scenic coastal walks, following the clifftops between Sorrento Ocean Beach and Diamond Bay. This easy walk winds through coastal scrub with frequent lookouts over Bass Strait, where rugged cliffs, crashing waves and dramatic rock formations provide spectacular scenery. Along the way you'll also discover interpretive signs explaining how the coastline has changed over the past century.

The easy to moderate track is suitable for most walkers and can be enjoyed as a return walk or combined with nearby coastal tracks to create a longer circuit. A staircase near the start leads to a lookout platform overlooking Sorrento Ocean Beach, while Diamond Bay offers another excellent viewpoint and beach access.

The track is one way - return via the same track or combine with nearby walks.

Facilities

Parking, toilets, picnic areas, barbecues and a café are available at Sorrento Ocean Beach, making it an ideal starting point. Additional parking is available near Diamond Bay.

Getting There

The main trailhead is at Sorrento Ocean Beach, off Ocean Beach Road, Sorrento. Alternatively, begin from the Diamond Bay car park and walk towards Sorrento.

Tips

Stay on the formed track and behind safety barriers, as cliff edges can be unstable.
Wear sturdy footwear, as some sections have steps and uneven surfaces.
Carry water, particularly during warmer months.
Bring binoculars during winter and spring for whale watching.
Keep an eye out for snakes during warmer weather and remain on the designated path.
