Colac Yacht Club

Colac Yacht Club

Colac Yacht Club is a family-friendly sailing club on the southern shore of Lake Colac. The club welcomes experienced sailors, beginners, crew members, volunteers and social members.

Activities include:
  • Regular sailing and pennant racing on Lake Colac
  • Annual regattas and other competitive sailing events
  • Learn to Sail programs for children and adults, with boats and equipment supplied
  • Discover Sailing sessions for people interested in trying the sport
  • Opportunities to join an existing boat as a crew member
  • Social activities and volunteering
  • Remote-control yacht sailing, introduced during 2026
The club’s Learn to Sail program teaches basic boat handling, sailing and water-safety skills. Programs are offered on selected dates rather than continuously, so prospective participants should check the club’s current program.

Sailing activities depend on suitable weather, wind and lake levels. Lake Colac is relatively shallow and water levels can vary substantially between seasons.

Facilities:

The clubhouse has direct access to Lake Colac. Parking is available near the club, while a public boat ramp and additional foreshore facilities are located nearby. Public barbecues, picnic tables, toilets and a playground are available farther east along the Lake Colac foreshore.

Opening Hours:

The club opens for scheduled sailing, training, meetings and events. See the Colac Yacht Club events calendar and official Facebook page for current activities.

Membership, training and event charges vary. Contact the club or see the Colac Yacht Club website for current information.
