Colac - Joseph Paatsch Nature Reserve
Joseph Paatsch Nature Reserve is a small bushland reserve beside Barongarook Creek on the eastern side of Colac. A mostly flat walking path follows the southern side of the creek between Forest Street and Fulton Street, passing through native vegetation and areas used by local wildlife.
The reserve is a worthwhile destination for a short walk, birdwatching and nature photography. More than 80 bird species have been recorded at the reserve, including Sacred Kingfishers, thornbills, rails and fairywrens.
Joseph Paatsch Nature Reserve was planned in 2005 on land donated by the Paatsch family and Bulla Dairy Foods. It was developed as a community project by the Rotary Club of Colac West. The reserve and its paths were later restored following flood damage. The Barongarook Creek GreenLinks Project is continuing to restore the creek corridor through weed removal, native revegetation and habitat improvement.

Access for Dogs:
Dogs can be walked through the reserve but should be kept on a leash to protect wildlife. Owners must keep dogs under effective control, follow any signs and remove dog waste.

Joseph Paatsch Reserve car park, Forest Street, Colac. Located north of Bulla Dairy Foods, 91 Forest St, Colac. The walking path extends west towards Fulton Street.
