Colac Bowling Club

Established in 1897, Colac Bowling Club is the oldest bowling club in Colac. The club occupies a scenic position on the south-western shore of Lake Colac, with views across the lake from the clubhouse and bowling greens.

The club has three carpet-style synthetic greens. Greens 2 and 3 have Tiger Turf surfaces, while Green 1 has recently been recarpeted. One green is protected by a large dome, allowing bowls and barefoot bowls to continue in most weather conditions.

Barefoot Bowls:

Barefoot bowls is suitable for beginners, families, children, social groups and workplace functions. Sessions generally run for two hours, with bowls and basic instruction supplied. Smaller bowls are available for children.

Most sessions are held beneath the dome, providing protection from rain and strong sunlight. Flat-soled shoes, socks or bare feet may be worn on the green. Catering, grazing platters, pizzas, barbecue packages and barbecue hire can be added when booking.

History:

Colac Bowling Club was founded at Market Square in 1897. It relocated to Manifold Street in 1921 and moved to its present Lake Colac site in 1964. A third green was constructed in 1988, with synthetic carpet surfaces progressively installed and upgraded during subsequent years.
