Cobden Pioneer Park

Cobden Pioneer Park is a fascinating open-air museum that preserves the farming, dairy, timber and agricultural history of the Cobden and Heytesbury district. Located beside the Cobden Miniature Railway, the park allows visitors to step back in time and explore authentic historic buildings, vintage machinery and thousands of artefacts that tell the story of early rural life.

Established in 1998 by local volunteers, the park has grown into one of south-west Victoria's best heritage attractions. Historic buildings, including a schoolroom, stables, goods shed and barns, have either been relocated to the site or faithfully reconstructed. Inside you'll discover restored farming equipment, blacksmith tools, dairy memorabilia, household items and one of Victoria's finest collections of horse-drawn buggies and wagons. Highlights include the original Fletcher Jones sales wagon, the famous "Boneshaker" bicycle and ledgers from the former Cobden Co-operative Cheese and Butter Factory.

Families will enjoy wandering through the displays, learning how pioneers lived and worked, and seeing the impressive collection of vintage agricultural machinery.

Opening Hours:

Cobden Pioneer Park is generally open on the third Sunday of each month, every Sunday during Victorian school holidays, or by prior arrangement for groups. As opening times can vary for special events, it is worth checking before visiting.
