Chiltern - Yeddonba Aboriginal Cultural Site Walk
Yeddonba Aboriginal Cultural Site is located at the base of Mount Pilot in Chiltern-Mt Pilot National Park.
The culturally significant site contains a rock shelter, bush-tucker area and red-ochre artwork. One of the paintings is believed to depict a thylacine, or Tasmanian tiger, supporting evidence that the animal once lived on mainland Australia.
The site was used as a spiritual and ceremonial place by Aboriginal clans of the surrounding region. Visitors should remain on the formed track, respect the cultural significance of the area and avoid touching the rock surfaces or artwork.
A 750-metre circular walking track passes the rock shelter and other significant locations. Interpretive signs positioned along the route explain the cultural and natural features of the site.
