Bullarto Reservoir is located in the Wombat State Forest between Daylesford and Trentham. It is a popular destination for fishing, picnics, hiking and cycling.

Bullarto Reservoir is the domestic water supply for Daylesford and Hepburn and is surrounded by forest.

There are toilet facilities and unshaded tables available. There is a grassy area and a number of interesting unusual trees.

Restricted Activities


The reservoir is managed by Central Highlands Water and activities that could affect water quality are restricted. This includes dogs, Dogs, horse riding, littering or dumping rubbish, lighting fires, camping, boating (including canoes and kayaks), swimming and no entering the water (including wading or paddling).

There is no access to the weir wall for any activity including fishing.

How to get to Bullarto Reservoir


From Daylesford-Trentham Road, turn into Babingtons Road. After 1.4km turn left through some gates into Bullarto Reservoir Road. It you come to Top Track, you have driven too far. Google maps may indicate that you have to walk from the gate but that is not true. There are some potholes but the 1km long road is quite reasonable for a 2WD.

Dogs are not permitted.
