The track passes through a thick understorey of mainly mint bush shrubs before leading into open Red Box forest. A small gully provides just enough moisture to support a different range of plant species from those found on the surrounding dry ridge.

The walk is a good addition to a visit to Blue Pool, a scenic natural swimming hole set at the base of a narrow basalt gorge on Freestone Creek.

How to Get There:

From Briagolong, follow Freestone Creek Road north for approximately 10 km to Blue Pool. Parking is available at the Blue Pool Day Visitor Area, with overflow parking nearby at the Blue Pool Campground. The walk starts from the day visitor car park.

Freestone Creek Road provides 2WD access under normal conditions.

Toilets are available at the Blue Pool Day Visitor Area. Picnic tables, shelters and BBQ facilities are also available in the Blue Pool precinct.

Access for Dogs:

Dogs are allowed.
