Bendoc - Delegate River Tunnel

See a tunnel cut through 80m of hard rock to divert Delegate River, in a glimpse of the region's gold mining past.
This is a beautiful and interesting 2.2km return walk to the Delegate River. See an example of mining ingenuity with a tunnel that was cut by miners through hard rock, during the Victorian gold rush of the 1880s. The 80m tunnel diverted the river from its original course to allow gold mining in the riverbed.
Add on a lunch stop and make use of the picnic facilities at the start of the walk, including a wood-fired BBQ and picnic tables.
The walk has occasional steps, short steep hills, well formed track and limited signage. Bushwalking experience recommended.
