Bellfield - Mount Rosea Walk

Mount Rosea Walk is a challenging mountain walk in Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park, climbing through forest and dramatic sandstone country to panoramic views from Mount Rosea.
Distance: 8.6 km return
Difficulty: Strenuous
Start/Finish: Rosea Trailhead
The walk follows part of the Grampians Peaks Trail through tall messmate forest before climbing into increasingly rugged sandstone terrain.
Along the way the track passes weathered rock formations, rocky outcrops and the impressive formation known as the Gate of the East Wind. Higher sections become increasingly exposed as the route winds through the sandstone landscape towards Mount Rosea.
The summit area provides spectacular 360-degree views across the central Grampians, including the Serra Range and Mount William Range.
Mount Rosea is the northernmost peak of the Serra Range and its high cliffs and rocky landscape make this one of the more dramatic walks in the central Grampians.
The walk is suited to experienced and well-prepared walkers. Expect rocky and uneven surfaces, steep sections and potentially slippery rocks. There are also exposed cliffs, so remain on the marked track and supervise children closely.
Carry plenty of drinking water, wear sturdy walking shoes or boots and allow enough time to complete the walk well before dark. Mobile phone reception can be unreliable within Grampians (Gariwerd) National Park.
Wildflowers
The Mount Rosea area can be particularly attractive during the wildflower season. Common Heath, Victoria's floral emblem, can be seen flowering beside sections of the Mount Rosea track from late autumn through spring.
